DGTHG certificates

By way of providing lifelong qualification opportunities for cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgeons, the DGTHG has for many years awarded individual certificates as evidence of specialised skills in particular areas of the discipline. To obtain such a certificate it is necessary to meet certain conditions and undergo an oral examination.

In the field of surgery, the DGTHG is introducing the following certificates for specialists in cardiac surgery:

• Surgery for congenital heart defects

• Transplantation surgery of the thoracic organs

As well as fulfilling the conditions, applicants will be required to take an oral examination conducted by the DGTHG panel of experts.

Oral examinations are held at the annual meetings of the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (DGTHG).

Applications should be addressed 6 weeks* prior to the annual meeting the secretary's office of the Chairman of the Commission for the Promotion of Young Talent, Professional Development and Further Training, PD Dr. W. Harringer.
